Great Dance Experience !!! :D

On March 19th I had my first ballroom dance competition it was a memory that will remember forever. My dress that I wore that day was a teal colorant the dress was  made specially to fit me and it also had a heavy/bouncy skirt so that it makes you have to work harder to move the skirt because of its weight. I only danced 4 types of dances but I danced 12 time so first I danced the 4 dances then again so I did each dance twice then after that I took a break and I was very out of breath after that I did one more round of the 4 dance so in all I danced 12 times. The four dances were Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, & Jive. That was also the order I danced them in. AT first I was so nervous I would have bad dreams that I would mess up but then on the day of the comp I was very confident and thats all you need to be when you go up to dance also have fun because thats what it is all about and if you mess up you just follow your partner. I won many medals that I am very proud of.

See ya next time!!!!

Wade In The Water
At school we are learning/ about one of Alvin Ailey's most successful dances he has choreographed and this is my first time learning his dance which is so exciting to me.My class and I might go next year and watch the Alvin Ailey company perform which is amazing because I have never gone to see one. The costumes for our performance is going to be really cool because we the girls have these long swaying skirts that will really add and accent to the whole dance. When my mini group performs there will be many turn's so that the skirt will really move with our whole body movements. See you soon!!

Alvin Ailey

I have been learning about Alvin Ailey for the past 3 weeks and he is very interesting. He grew up in a very poor family during The Great Depression. His father abandoned him and his mother when his was only 6 months old which is very sad because that means he practically never got to meet his dad/or will never remember him. Lester Horton was a gigantic part of Alvin's dancing life because when he died Alvin Ailey took over and became the director which is a part to take over from being a student to being a director. In the beginning of his dancing he used to dance at a night club in San Fransisco. When he started his own personal dance company it was made of only 8 african-americans.I hope you this made you want to read more about him!!

THANKYOU!!!
